(This is the main intersection by my parents' house).
i didn't sleep last night, distraught by a sense of foreboding.
this panicky feeling kept taking over. at first, i thought my distress stemmed from the economy, so i kept refreshing the nytimes and wallstreet journal homepages.
it was only this morning, when i called my parents did i realize where my sense of dread came from. my dad told me that they were packing up our stuff and asked me what i wanted them to take with them and not to worry because they already packed the important stuff - my wedding dress, my diploma, our family photos....
having been through this before during the 2003 fires, i tried not to take the idea of a "possible" evacuation too seriously. however, as more and more news reports sprung up about the porter ranch fire, i realized that this was really serious and that the home that i grew up in and miss every day, might not be there when i return to california.
worst of all, i'm not with my parents. i really wish i could be there with them.
i'm not a religious person... but i'm praying for everyone effected by the fires and hope that all these stupid fires will be contained... SOON.
